Eco Affordable Housing

Dinner on the Bluff on February 9, 2008
Topic/Speaker: "Eco Affordable Housing", Alison Lindberg, Dovetail Partners Inc.

While building green affordable housing in rural communities can be a challenge, it can also be an opportunity to enhance local economic development and provide green education. The Aitkin FSC Home, built with locally-sourced Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) wood products, had a huge impact on the local community while decreasing the impact on the environment.  The objectives of Dovetail’s Eco-Affordable Housing Program are to create environmental awareness, to demonstrate the use of housing as an economic development tool for rural communities, and to facilitate the process of obtaining and constructing eco-affordable housing so that it may be replicated easily.
This presentation will demonstrate how sourcing local products is a way to boost economic development and contribute to sustainable affordable design in rural communities

The evening’s menu is: mixed green salad; vegetarian entrée of Manicotti served with Marinara or meat entrée of slow roasted prime rib; fresh steamed asparagus and baby red roasted potatoes. And finally dessert will be Hearts-on-Fire Sorbet.

Cost: $18 per person
