"Transmission co-operative Great River Energy has announced that it has begun taking power from Horizon Wind Energy's 100.65MW Prairie Star wind farm located about 15 miles southeast of Austin in the US state of Minnesota.
The Prairie Star wind farm will produce 352,000MWh of clean energy which is enough to power approximately 33,000 Minnesota homes. Construction of the 61 1.65MW wind turbines started in spring 2007 and the project came online in December 2007. "

"Dodge and Olmsted Counties could soon become home to one of the largest community-owned wind farms in the nation.
High Country Energy is proposing installing up to 200 wind turbines that could generate up to 300 megawatts -- enough energy to power 87,000 homes."

The Austin Coalition for Environmental Sustainability was founded in April of 2007. Some of the things we have worked on include:
Helping promote the passage of the Clean Air Mitigation Act of 2007.
Reducing auto traffic by promoting bicycling, carpooling, biking, walking and riding the bus..
Increasing recycling in Austin from the current level of 45%.
Promoting industrial and citizen recycling.
Studying how other cities are dealing with environmental issues.
Creating a Freedom Fest Parade float for the July 4th parade.
Providing an educational booth at the 2007 Mower County Fair.
Providing informational speakers at monthly ACE meetings.
Preparing a public education campaign for passage of Bill #SF2096
